We woke up feeling very gross, it had been along time since our last shower, had bug dope on to try unsuccessfully to keep the sandflies off and we really needed to do laundry before our friends arrived, so we hit the road back into Rangiora to look at a motor camp we had seen a sign for. We pulled into the park that was right next to some warehouse with workers all around, hmmm. The main office looked like it used to be an old church from the 70's complete with stained glass and from what we could see everything was rusted and out of date. GHETTO! We got out and walked to the office just to check it out since we were already there, no one was available to help us although we saw several workers riding around in golf carts and wondering about the park, so we walked around to check out the amenities. There was a small lounge with old chairs and couches from 70's in all of those ugly colors like pea green, pee yellow, brown, wood paneling, ect… the tv was an antique with rabbit ears…ok…the kitchen was small and old with multiple fire code violations I'm sure. Suddenly nature called for Paul and I had to wait around hoping management would not come by as Paul "checked out" their restroom facilities. It was an easy choice to hit the road in search of modern, cleaner facilities at a cheaper price.
We have found that the Kiwi holiday parks are the cheapest of the motor parks and have fantastic facilities. So we looked on the map and found one 20min from downtown Christchurch and the airport. Perfect! The place was easy to find, a short walk to the beach, surrounded by trees, and right across from Adrenalin forest (a park that has 6 courses of ropes, mazes, and puzzles in the tree tops) there were also lots of paths that we can go for a run on. We picked our spot, put on our running clothes and ran along the beach. It was a bit humid and overcast, but pleasant enough, no sandfly's and no need for our sun hats.
We enjoyed a long hot shower (no timer on these showers!) and I started laundry, while Paul ventured to the supermarket for dinner! We thought it was strange that since our wedding we have spent every hour of every day together, we laughed at our separation anxiety, I was mostly anxious because I'm the navigator and I was not sure Paul could find his way back! :)
We had a nice evening of finishing our laundry and making a good dinner finally sleeping well out of the sandflies and far away from scissor lift back up alarms.
