11-21-10

We woke up and headed out early, we had a lot to accomplish for the day. We would be starting the Kepler track the next day and we needed drive south to Te Anau to get food, figure out where to store our valuables, park the van, find a place a to stay for the night, and go to the DOC to get our hut tickets. The drive took us about 3 hours and it was dry for most of it until 20min before Te Anau the gateway to Fiordland national park.  At the DOC office we got the low down on our options, and decided that the motor camp was our best, we could rent a locker to store our valuables so we could drive to the start and park our van.  The motor camp turned out to be a Kiwi park so the facilities were awesome.  We set up our tents and drove into town to get our food.
Once shopping was done we came back to camp to shower and figure our what our friends wanted to do with the last 10 days of their stay.  We got as far as booking a boat trip to Milford Sound the day after our Kepler tramp. We had a yummy dinner of spaghetti, salad, cheesy bread and vino for energy.  Then it was off to bed for an early morning rise to start the track.
